Update on UAE road toll gates payment!
Recently, UAE has updated its road toll gates payments and while renting a car here, you need to be aware of those. Here’s a quick information on the gate payment, which has come into effect, since January 2020.
Each passing will be charged at Dh4 with a daily cap at Dh16. It means if you pass a gate four times, you’ll be charged only Dh16. The Department of Municipalities and Transport announced that the tolls will only charge during rush hour, which is between 7 am-9 am and 5 pm-7 pm. It means that there will be no toll gates during the non-rush hours.
They have also introduced a free exemption for low income earning citizens, senior citizen, people of determination and retire citizen. They have also introduced a monthly cap for a private vehicle, which is Dh200 for the first vehicle, Dh150, and Dh100 for each additional vehicle.
